# System requirements

Browser, WebGL, and Field App requirements for Felt, and how to fix the "This browser or computer isn't supported" error.

Felt runs in modern desktop and mobile web browsers, with nothing to install. It needs WebGL, the browser feature that draws the map with your device's graphics hardware. To capture data or work offline on a phone or tablet, use the Field App for iOS and Android. See [Set up the Field App](/field-app/set-up-the-field-app.md).

## Requirements

To run Felt in a web browser, your device needs:

* A modern web browser, kept up to date.
* WebGL turned on in the browser. Most browsers turn it on by default.
* Graphics acceleration (hardware acceleration) turned on in the browser.

The Field App runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15.5 or later, and on Android phones and tablets. Get it from the App Store or Google Play.

## "This browser or computer isn't supported"

Felt shows this error when it can't use WebGL to open the map. The full error includes *Felt requires WebGL, which is not supported by this browser or device.*

The error has one of these causes:

* WebGL or graphics acceleration is turned off in the browser. This is the most common cause.
* The browser can't reach the graphics hardware. This often happens in remote desktop sessions and virtual machines, or when the browser blocks the device's graphics card or driver.
* The device or browser doesn't support WebGL.

To fix it:

1. Go to [get.webgl.org](https://get.webgl.org/). If WebGL works, the page shows a spinning cube.
2. If there's no cube, turn on graphics acceleration and WebGL in your browser. Some browsers have a separate setting for each. To find them, search for "enable WebGL" with your browser's name and version.
   * Chrome: go to `chrome://settings/system` and turn on **Use graphics acceleration when available**.
   * Firefox: turn on graphics acceleration in [Performance settings](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings). WebGL is a separate setting: in `about:config`, check that `webgl.disabled` is `false`.
3. Restart the browser, then open the map again.
4. If WebGL still doesn't work, try another browser, or update your browser and your device's graphics drivers. In a remote desktop session or virtual machine, try opening Felt on your own computer instead.

## "Felt Requires WebGL" on iOS 17

On iOS 17, a WebGL bug can make the browser show *Felt Requires WebGL*. To fix it, quit the browser completely and open it again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.felt.com/administration/system-requirements.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
