# Account and login

Manage your Felt account and login settings. Get help with Google login, SSO, and password resets.

Your Felt account uses one email address and lets you join several workspaces. The Felt interface is in English only; you can't change its language. To switch to dark mode, change your theme in [account settings](#change-your-account-settings). To delete your account, email <support@felt.com>.

## Create an account

Creating a Felt account is free. If someone invited you, sign up through the link in their email to join the workspace or map.

1. Go to [felt.com/signup](https://felt.com/signup).
2. Enter your email address, or click **Continue with Google**. If your company's workspace uses SSO, click **Continue with SSO**.
3. If you chose email, enter your name and a password, then click **Create account**. Click the confirmation link Felt emails you.
4. If you chose Google or SSO, follow the prompts to finish signing up.
5. Join your team's workspace or create one. If Felt shows *We found your workspace on Felt!*, click **Join** next to your team's workspace.

Each person gets one free trial in their first workspace. See [Billing](/plans-and-billing/billing.md). You can't create an account in the Field App; sign up on the web first.

## Log in

1. Go to [felt.com/login](https://felt.com/login).
2. Enter your email address and click **Next**.
3. Enter your password and click **Log in**, or click **Log in with SSO** to log in with your company's identity provider.

If your account uses Google, click **Continue with Google** instead of entering your email address. The Field App uses the same login. See [Set up the Field App](/field-app/set-up-the-field-app.md).

Felt doesn't offer its own two-factor authentication. When you log in with SSO or Google, that provider handles two-factor authentication. Workspace admins set up SSO. See [SSO](/administration/sso.md).

## Reset your password

To reset your Felt password, request an email with a reset link. If you log in with SSO, reset your SSO password with your identity provider. See [SSO](/administration/sso.md) for when you can use a Felt password instead.

1. Go to [felt.com/forgot](https://felt.com/forgot).
2. Enter your email address and click **Send me a password reset**.
3. Click the link in the email. Reset links expire, so request a new one if the link doesn't work.
4. Enter a new password in **New password** and **Confirm new password**, then click **Reset password**.

## Open the right workspace

If you can't see your team's maps after logging in, check that you're in the right workspace. To switch, click your workspace name in the sidebar, open **Switch workspace**, and select your team's workspace. If it isn't listed, ask one of its admins to invite you. See [Workspaces](/administration/workspaces.md).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Create workspace** in the **Switch workspace** menu makes a new, empty workspace with its own plan and billing, separate from your team's.
{% endhint %}

## Change your account settings

Your account settings apply in every workspace you belong to. To change your name, avatar, email, password, or theme, click your workspace name in the sidebar, then click **Account settings**. On a map, open the **Felt** menu and click **Help and account** > **Account settings**.

* Name and avatar: edit **Name** or **Avatar** in the **Basics** section. Other people see them on shared maps and in comments.
* Theme: in the **Appearance** section, select a **Theme**: **System default**, **Light**, or **Dark**. The theme doesn't change a map's basemap. See [Basemaps](/styling/basemaps.md).
* Password: in the **Password** section, click **Change password**, or **Set password** if your account doesn't have one. If you log in with Google, Felt emails you a link to set one.

### Change your email address

You keep your maps and workspaces when you change your Felt email address. You need a Felt password to make the change. If you log in with Google, set a password first. If you log in with Single Sign-On (SSO), email <support@felt.com> instead.

1. In **Account settings**, click **Change email**.
2. Enter the address in **New email**.
3. Enter your password in **Verify current password**, then click **Save**. Felt sends a confirmation link to the new address.
4. Make sure you're logged in to Felt with your current email in the browser where you'll open the link.
5. Click the confirmation link. Felt shows *Email changed.*

If the link takes you to the login page, log in with your current email, not the new one. Felt then completes the change. Don't create a new account with the new address.

## Log out

To log out of Felt, click your workspace name in the sidebar to open the workspace menu, then click **Log out**. On a map, open the **Felt** menu and click **Help and account** > **Log out**. To use a different account, log out, then log in with the other email address.

## Delete your account

To delete your Felt account, email <support@felt.com> from the address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. To leave a workspace but keep your account, see [Leave a workspace](/administration/workspaces.md#leave-a-workspace), which also explains what happens to your drafts.

## Troubleshooting

### "You must first confirm your account"

Felt needs you to confirm your email address before you log in. Click the link in the confirmation email from Felt. If the email didn't arrive or the link has expired, click **Re-send your confirmation link** on the login page.

### "This account signed up using Google"

The account was created with Google. Click **Continue with Google**. To log in with a password as well, [reset your password](#reset-your-password) to set one.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.felt.com/getting-started/account-and-login.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
