What is Felt?

Felt is a mapping and geographic information system (GIS) platform that runs in your web browser. Use it to map, style, and analyze data, capture field data, and share interactive maps and dashboards. Ask Felt AI to help you build a map and explain its work as you go.

What you can do with Felt

With Felt, you can:

• Ask Felt AI: learn the controls, find data, run analysis, and style layers by asking in plain language. See AI assistant.

• Add data: upload files (such as CSV, GeoJSON, and Shapefile), add data from URLs such as Google Sheets, connect databases, or add Global Library layers. See Upload files and Data sources.

• Style and explore: style layers by category or value, add labels and popups, and filter layers. See Style vector layers.

• Draw: add pins, lines, shapes, and notes to a map. See Draw on the map.

• Analyze: create new layers with operations such as buffer, join, and dissolve, or write SQL queries. See Spatial analysis.

• Build dashboards and apps: add charts and filters, or build on Felt with extensions and APIs. See Dashboards and Extensions.

• Capture field data: use the Field App to add features and photos with forms, and work offline. See Set up the Field App.

• Share and collaborate: edit a map together in real time, comment, and embed maps in websites. See Share a map.

For example, a planning team can upload parcel data, color it by zoning, and embed the map on a project page.

Felt works in a modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS, and the Field App runs on iOS and Android.

Limits and map display

Felt doesn't cap features per layer or layers per map, and browser uploads can be up to 100 GB. See Data limits.

Felt displays maps in the Web Mercator projection. Maps are two-dimensional: you can rotate them but not tilt them or view them in 3D. See Navigate the map and Supported file types.

Felt has a Free plan, paid Team, Business, and Enterprise plans, and a Classroom plan for teaching. See Compare plans. A person's first workspace starts with a free 7-day trial of the Business plan and the Platform add-on. See Billing.
