Search

Find addresses, places, coordinates, and layer features on a Felt map. Add a result to the map as a pin, a comment, or a layer feature.

Search looks up places anywhere in the world and features in your map's layers from one box at the top right of the map. Enter an address, a place name, coordinates, or part of a value in your data, and the map moves to the result you select. Anyone who can open a map can search it, including people viewing an embed that has Search turned on.

Search for an address or place

1. Click Search at the top right of the map, or press / or Cmd+F (Mac) or Ctrl+F (Windows).

2. Enter an address, a place name, or coordinates. To find a feature in your data, enter part of any of its values, even a few characters.

3. Select a result. The map moves to it.

Search accepts coordinates in these formats, with latitude first:

Decimal degrees	40.123, -74.123
Degrees and decimal minutes	40° 7.38', -74° 7.38'
Degrees, minutes, and seconds	40° 7' 22.8" N 74° 7' 22.8" W

To get the coordinates of a point on the map, right-click it. See Find coordinates on the map.

Search tips

• If a place doesn't appear, add the region or country, such as Springfield, Illinois.

• Search shows up to five features from each visible layer. It skips hidden layers and features hidden by a filter.

• To see every match in a layer, search the layer's table.

• Search doesn't give directions. To measure the distance along a route, see Measure.

Add a searched place to the map

When you select a place in Search, a temporary marker and popup appear. Nothing is added to the map until you choose an action.

• In edit mode, click Add… in the popup and select Pin, Comment, or a layer. If you add a pin, it uses the place's name.

• While viewing a map where you can comment, click Add comment.

Add Search to an embed

An embedded map doesn't show Search unless you add it. In the embed's Tools setting, turn on Search. See Embed a map.
